TEAM GOLD FOR SOUTH YORKS HEPTATHLETES

Keeping up the tradition of South Yorkshire breading top class Heptathletes and following Jess Ennis’ lead, the South Yorkshire team that featured two Doncaster AC athletes, Lucy Chappell and Beth Taylor, won the Senior Girls Heptathlon Team Competition at the 27th English Schools Combined Events championship at Boston last weekend.

CaptureThe South Yorkshire team of Lucy, Beth, and Sheffield’s Amy Hodgson and Olivia Noteman won the competition with an overall team score of 12,170 points, beating the Essex team into 2nd place (11,953 points) and Gloucs into 3rd (11,885 points).

Berlin Marathon – 28 September 2014

James Smith has been running marathons all over the world for several years, he has wanted to go under 3 hours for as long as I have known him and today he smashed it!  He ran Berlin in 2:56:40, this was a PB of 11 minutes and 28 seconds.  Well done to James who trained for many months building up to this, I am sure you are already planning your next one.  James enters the all time top 10 in 7th place, his 5k splits are below.

ENGLISH SCHOOLS GOLD FOR AIDEN

Last weekend Aiden Davies finally made the top stCaptureep of the podium in his fourth English Schools Combined Events Championships. Aiden struck Gold in the Senior Boys Decathlon at the 27th ESAA CE Championship held at the Princess Royal Arena, Boston, with a personal best score of 6844 points, 110 clear of his nearest rival Lewis Church from Kent.

 

CaptureAiden started the day with a win in the 100m with a time of 11.33 seconds.
After this first event his main rival, Nicholas Hunt from Dorset, pulled out of the competition and left the way clear for Aiden to go on to take the championship. Continue reading

England Athletics Registration – Cross Country Races or Indoor Series

Anyone entering the SY Cross Country Races or Indoor Series must provide their EA number when collecting their number.  You will find your number on your “Registration Card”, please check your card to ensure it is for the 2014 – 2015 season.  The design of the card changed this year as per the below example.  If your not sure see Kev Lincoln – if your EA fee has not been paid then it needs sorting out before the events start so you don’t get disqualified.  This does NOT apply to U11 members.
