Our next beginners course for new runners starts on Tuesday, January 27th (arrive just before 6pm) and it is filling up fast, we already have over 25 people signed up. We are holding an induction on the 22nd January 2015 in a meeting room at the Keepmoat stadium from 5:45pm where we will fill in forms and introduce the course, we will be available to answer any question you might have.
The course is very gentle and aimed at people that don’t think they can run, at the end of 9 weeks you will be able to run for 30 minutes and it offers fantastic value for money at £40, this includes membership until 2016 so a year of coaching and support for only £40, no ongoing monthly payments! At the end of the 9 weeks we work with you and continue to build up your fitness through running. Everyone who completes the course will get a framed signed certificate.
During the beginners course we give you between 2 and 3 coached sessions each week (and this continues when you finish the course), we also bake treats for you on special occasions, we offer free injury prevention talks and we will cover breathing exercises etc. Our team of 12 run leaders and coaches is the best in the region, Janet recently won “Run Leader of the Year”. Click here for more details. You can ring Janet on 07769 654610 or Martin on 07916 659740. Or send a message by clicking here.
We have booked the players lounge at the Keepmoat Stadium on the 22 January from 5:45 to have a chat and complete the application forms etc, we have free car parking as well as toilet and shower facilities all included.
If you can already run at any pace give us a try for free and join one of our 6 existing groups, we have the perfect group for you whether you just want to be a social runner or a marathon runner. We are also the only athletics club in Doncaster to offer coaching for children from age 5+.
All our coaches and other helpers are volunteers so all money raised goes back into supporting our junior and senior members. We have a very active, friendly and motivational private Facebook group with over 200 members to which we can add you, just ask.
Please check the below entry list for the Yorkshire Cross Country Championships (10 January) to make sure if you asked to compete, your on the list in the correct age group. Ring me if any questions 07916 659740.
Myself and Simon managed to sneak out on Christmas day to get our parkrun fix (as did regular Doncaster park runners Heather and Cameron). Good conditions on the hilly course, I was pleased to finish in 2nd place (same time as the winner) and to run a 39 second PB on the course.
Thank you for your entries for the Humberside Cross Country Championships at Weelsby Woods, Grimsby on Sunday 4th January 2015.
Availability slips for the Inter County Cross Country Championships will be issued at the end of the finishing funnels and I will need the competition licence number for each athlete who is to be entered for those championships. You have already provided yours.
Anthony Clarke has been asked to put course maps and distances on the Humber Athletics Network website – they should be there by now.
