On Saturday 1 October, Doncaster Parkrun will be holding a minutes silence before the event starts at 9am, please come along and join us to remember Michael.
We need volunteers for race marshals at the Cusworth 10k on Sunday 2nd of October. This is your chance to put something back into your club. If your not running, could you please spare a couple of hours to help man the route and help make it another successful event for the club. We will be meeting outside the Hall at 9:30. Anyone can help out – you don’t have to be a member of the club – just message me by commenting under this post if you are free – the more marshals the better as we can then cover and even double up at stations. Please let me know if you can help out as soon as possible so I can get things organised. Cheers Eddie.

It is with deep sadness that we have to report Doncaster AC member Michael Wakefield collapsed at Doncaster Parkrun on Saturday 24 September. At parkrun attempts were made to resuscitate Michael by fellow runners until an ambulance arrived. Further attempts were made by the ambulance crew and at DRI. Unfortunately, despite all efforts to resuscitate Michael, he passed away at 11:11. He did not die alone, Janet was with him. The family has asked us to communicate this information this information to the club. Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.

We entered this race about a year ago and forgot about it. Thanks to the supporters, particularly Susan Hookway, Tony, Stu Bartley and Jim Fletcher (and everyone else). Bad luck to Martin Hookway who had to pull out after 25 miles.
This was Marie’s first ultra and she did amazing enjoying herself all day. Martin had a good run but faded in the second half – the usual pacing issues. Brilliant weather all day. Nice course suitable for road shoes.
1st Place was won by Matt Cook in a time of 6:38. 1st lady was Gillian Johnson with a time of 7:50 (5th overall).
