Yorkshire Cross Country Championships – 7 January 2016

27 Doncaster AC runners competed at this excellent event, conditions were good with not much mud and mild dry still conditions.

For the team positions, 3 for the junior, 4 for the ladies and 6 for the men to count.  Our Junior Men won bronze and Rhys has been put on the reserve list for the Country.  Our Ladies fielded 2 teams (last year we did not have a team) and they finished 15th and 28th.  Our men finished in 11th place out of 31 teams.

Wishing Callum Wilson a speedy recovery and thank you to Shaz Wood for helping Karen who is feeling much better now.  Thank you to James Westerman for guiding Sharon.

Thanks to Bill and Kevin for getting the gazebo and flag up, we had the best facilities of any club on site!

Special mention to Nicola Devine who ran at Doncaster Parkrun, finishing 1st lady before driving over to Lightwater Valley and racing hard again. Continue reading

21 January – Free Endurance Talk with National Coach Dave Lowe

With loads of help from Barry Barnes and Kev Lincoln we are fortunate to have the chance of an Endurance Talk from National Coach and GB team manager Dave Lowe, who has recently returned from the UIA World 50k Championship on Doha where our GB male & female teams came home with silver and gold respectively.

This opportunity is open to every DAC member no matter of level of experience, although it will be perfect for those interested in Ultra Running, Trail Running and Marathons, the talk will be great for beginners wanting more information on running. Dave has a wealth of knowledge and experience and will be available to come and talk to us about all things Ultra, nutrition, training, hill techniques, mental attitude etc.

Tea, coffee and sandwiches will be available so can we please have numbers on who will be attending so we can order the right amount. There will be no cost to this event. A few of us plan to run into Doncaster after parkrun but parking (at a cost) is available in the many carparks around the Police Club.

Saturday 21 January 10:30am till 12:30pm.

The facebook link to the event is here.
