Northern Jumble 10k trail – 14 October 2017

Well done to Catherine Johnson who finihsed this race in 1:05:24.  This 10k race is organised by It’s Grim Up North Running for a bargain price of only £10.  For future reference for Doncaster AC runners it was a great event – there were 5k, 10k, half marathon, marathon and ultra (31 miles) options setting off from Slaithwaite near Huddersfield mainly along canal tow paths.  A small event but well marshalled and a fantastic atmosphere and there are loads of future events on their website.

Amsterdam Marathon – 15 October 2017

Stuart Lindsay has been training hard for 10 months building up to this marathon, he ran a great time of 4:08.  Well done Stuart!

Winter Time Trial for Endurance Runners

The traditional Town Moor time Trial starts again next Tuesday….17th October 2017. We meet up on Town moor Avenue from 6:00 to start running at 6:30. For the experienced of you, there is no need to tell you about the format, so this is just for the uninitiated. When you get to the meeting point, (Town Moor Avenue opposite Hampton Road) give your name to Roy Veall, after a lot of debate you will get your handicap.  Numbers will be allocated again on the night, or email if you know you are coming and I will make your number in advance, indicate your current 5k time please.

The time trial starts with the slower runners and progresses through everyone until the fastest are set off according to their allocated time handicap.  So faster runners keep warm until your start time.

It is then 3 laps of the course which is shown here.  This is an excellent event where all the club comes together, it is very sociable and also an excellent training tool, with the slower runners having their chance to finish a race in 1st position and the faster runners there are targets to chase.

The total distance is just under 5 miles, all on tarmac.  We hope to put a marshal or 2 out on the course.  The road at the top of the field has been resurfaced in the last month.

SY Cross Country League Fixture 1, Longley Park 15-10-17

Please collect your cross country numbers from the cabin.  We still have some available for £8, it makes my job a lot easier if we can submit the entries before the event.  But numbers will be available on Sunday.  You need to purchase a club vest if you do not have one, available at the cabin Tuesday or Thursday.  Cross Country spikes of off road running shoes recommended.  Please arrive in plenty of time on Sunday and look for the DAC flag.  Good luck all!

Any last minute updates will be posted here.
