2017 Startrack Information – August fun for 5 to 13 year olds

Doncaster Athletic Club caters for Track and Field, Road Running and Cross Country athletes of all levels, we now have over 500 members and we are proud to count hundreds of junior members from across Doncaster and beyond in our membership. Our Club training sessions for competing members only are Mondays (Invitation / Specialist night), Tuesday and Thursdays, all from 6pm, our location and travel advice can be found here.

We are a friendly club and new road runner members should visit our sister website, Doncaster Pacers.  All abilities are welcome from international athletes to 14 minute mile runners.  Call Kev Lincoln, Club Chairman on 07739312835 for more information.  For membership details click here. All new members aged under 11 must attend initial assessment on Saturdays, at Doncaster Academy of Athletics. All new members aged 11yrs or over must attend assessment on Wednesday evenings from 6pm, at our site on the Keepmoat Stadium complex.

All potential may attend a maximum of 6 sessions, at a cost of £5 each, before becoming a full member, paying the appropriate fee. Our assessment coaches will recommend new members to attend competing training nights once potential and a commitment to compete is identified. On becoming a member it will be expected that a club vest will be purchased (from our reception), which must be worn in all club competitions.

Summer Solstice 10k – 23 June 2017

Dave Waugh had a good run at this evening race finishing in 150th place with a time of 45:23

Humber Bridge Half Marathon – 25 June 2017

Always a warm windy race, well done all running over the bridge twice and making it up cardiac hill.  Course records and PB’s achieved by lots.

Sprint & Endurance Evening Wednesday 13th September 2017

Join us for an excellent evening of sprint & endurance! As well as competitive races for all abilities we showcase the club and the region’s finest talent with the highlight of the evening being the Doncaster Mile with trophies to give away.

The extensive programme of events starts at 18.00, with all the results appearing live on the video wall, bringing you closer to the action. Electronic timing, including photo finish is provided to ensure accurate results and to help separate athletes in grippingly close finishes! The Doncaster Mile will be the last event, drawing the evening to an exciting finish.

Horwich 5km – 17 June 2017

Well done to our brilliant runners competing in the British Masters at Horwich.  The results are not available yet but provisionally Simon Wright took silver finishing with a time of 16:20ish, Kevin Newman took silver with a time of 18:29.  And to get the team the silver medal Phil Bussey ran 21:27.  All times TBC but wonderful running all!

Itinerary

9.30am Doors open, pay on entry.

10am Pitch events begin:

  • Sack Race
  • Beat the goalie
  • Welly throwing

 11.30am Parent/child three legged race.

 12 midday Adult 100m

 12.30pm Sandcastle competition in the sandpit.

 1pm Assault course.

 3pm finish.

Helsinki Half Marathon – 10 June 2017

Well done to Caroline Wheelhouse who won her age group at this half marathon, running on cobble stones, tram lines and taking in the sights.  Caroline finished with a time of 1:36:01 on a very warm day.

Edale Fell Race – 11 June 2017

Chris Lawson loves running around Derbyshire and he had a go at the Edale Fell Race, part of the Gritstone series.  He finished in 65th place with a time of 49:38.  173 runners finished.

Normanby 10k – 11 June 2017

PB’s for Lynette Temperton-Ball who finished in 1:00:56 and Dawn Hallingsworth who finished in 1:06:25.  These are provisional results and I know they both self timed it quicker with a sub 60 for Lynette and 1:05:33 for Dawn.  Well done both!

Clumber Park 10k Trail – 11 June 2017

Well done to Peter Badger, brilliant running with a time of 37:58 finishing in 8th place overall.  527 runners finished.
