WINTER TRAINING INFORMATION 2014 / 2015
We currently have a waiting list for junior members. Non-members are welcome to attend our Academy, where our coaches will work with each athlete to find a suitable place in the main club. No need to book, just turn up on the day. Senior members can just call down on a Tuesday or Thursday to have a chat and a run.
We are committed to equality of opportunity in sport for all, irrespective of gender, race, disability or age. Safety and personal achievement are our priorities, as members strive to reach personal goals in sport and fulfil their potential.
The INAS European Cross Country Championships will be held in Thornes Park, Wakefield on 21st and 22nd February 2015. INAS is the world governing body for sports participants with learning difficulties.
There will be two championship races on each day, but we are hoping to make use of the course by providing an event for local runners. On the Saturday, we are holding a community run on the course for anyone aged over 11, and on the Sunday, we are putting on a cross country event for under 11s.
The under 11s event will start at 10-45. There is no entry fee and absolutely anyone under the age of 11 is welcome to come along and run. All changing and other facilities at the Thornes Park Athletics Stadium will be available for participants (the start is 150 metres away). The course will be approximately 2k. It will be a very good introduction for under 11s, perhaps leading the older ones into taking part in under 13 races next season. Although there will be no prizes, all under 11 runners will receive a commemorative medal. The entire event is covered by a UKA Cross Country Permit (Number 2015036).
We should be very grateful if you would help us by publicising the event in your club and, perhaps bring a “team” of under 11 runners. Although there is no pre-entry, it would help in our planning if you could, please, indicate by email if any of your under 11 are intending to come along.
The track is covered in snow so training is cancelled on the track tonight.
The Met office have issued a Yellow Warning of snow and ice covering Doncaster valid from 10:30, 29 Jan to 11:00, 30 Jan.
Pacers Beginners Group still on from 6pm and road runners meet at your own discretion.
Just a quick post to advise of the dates and venues, number will be available in the coming weeks for £7.
These are great club events where all abilities are welcome to compete against some of the best runners in South Yorkshire. All the courses are on country roads with some great views and I am sure we can all help with car sharing!

A fantastic morning for the race, cold but dry, blue skies, with a bit of wind. Great turn out from the club and a great return to form from Carl Ryde running his fastest 10 mile since 2013 and winning the race.
Lots of PB’s for Mark Benson, Martin James, James Smith, Chris Pye, Adam Brailsford?, Gary Long, Elizabeth Jackson.
