About the Great Run Club Challenge

“Teams entering this year’s Great Run Club Challenge will qualify for the opportunity to make a dream trip to compete at the Great Ethiopian Run on Sunday November 24. Club runners are automatically selected to the Great Run Club Challenge by entering a Bupa Great Run Series event and selecting their club in the entry process (A minimum of 7 Male and 7 Female runners from each club are required to qualify).

The rules and prizes

  • In addition to competing with some of Ethiopia’s star athletes the lucky winners will also get the chance to  meet Haile Gebrselassie, the world’s greatest ever distance runner – who is a key member of the event team.
  • To qualify for this competition clubs must enter at least one of the Bupa Great Run Series events; the Bupa Great Manchester Run (May 26), the Bupa Great North 10k (June 23), the Bupa Great Edinburgh Run (July 14), the Bupa Great North Run (September 15), the Bupa Great Yorkshire Run (September 29), the Bupa Great Birmingham Run (October 20) or the Bupa Great South Run (October 27). The Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run (October 6) is also included in the schedule.
  • The winning club from each event , based on the average time of their fastest seven men and women to finish, will be placed in a draw after the Bupa Great South Run in Portsmouth. Clubs can however enter as many runners in each event as they wish, and as many  events as they wish.
  • The successful club drawn from the ballot will see their 14 runners  travel to Addis Ababa on Thursday 21st November, returning on Monday 25th November.  Accommodation and travel will be paid for and the winning team will be staying at the 4 Star “Yaya Africa Athletics Village” just outside Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital. www.yayavillage.com”
