The 3rd league match of the season took place at Bedford where the 38 best men’s teams from track & field clubs across the country met at the same venue, on the same day, making it the biggest track & field league fixture ever staged in the UK. For much of the day, we were fighting for 3rd place in Division 4, eventually finishing 5th. This is big improvement on our own previous achievements, and we remain unbeaten throughout the season in the Steeplechase.
Thanks to a momentous effort from our athletes in the relegation play-off we finished 3rd to a pair of very strong clubs from the north-east, Gateshead and Middlesborough. We also managed to beat Hull, City of Sheffield and Hallamshire. Personal Bests were has by Nishan Singh, Molly Butterworth, Callum Blackburn, Sam Botterill, George Phillips, Kara Wilson and Caitlin Herbert.
A very successful season for our young athletes, many competing for the first time. After battling all season with Rotherham and York for 3rd, 4th and 5th place we eventually finished incredibly in 4th, with virtually all of our athletes achieving personal bests at the final match. This consolidated our position in League East 1.
The final match in our Northeast 1 Division is on Saturday 15th July at Herringthorpe, Rotherham. After 3 rounds the league position is:
After a very successful year (so far) for our lower team it’s very close between York, Rotherham and ourselves. Let’s get a full team out and finish on a high note.
