SY Cross Country Fixture #1 – Clifton Park, 14 October 2018

Looking forward to seeing loads of you on Sunday, numbers still available from the cabin this week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – (please make every effort to get them before the day, £8 for the number which you keep for all 4 races).

Official club colour vests / t-shirts must be worn, go to the cabin and pick one up if you need one.  You can not wear training t-shirts such as Junior Club or Pacer ones.  Off road shoes are highly recommended, most runners will either use cross country spikes or trail shoes.  Depending on the rain we might get, the courses can be very muddy or very firm underfoot so if you have options take them all.

Details for the first event follow, please arrive in plenty of time to allow you to park up and get to the start and warm up.  Feel free to fetch chocolate for the junior / senior members to eat!

The first race is at 11am and the last race starts at 12:30pm.

London Marathon Club Places

To go into our club ballot for our club places you must have entered the public ballet earlier in the year.  The draw for the club ballot is towards the end of the year and it will not take place until London Marathon confirm our allocation which is hoped to be 3 or 4 places.

  • The member needs a rejection slip from the ballot entry – letter or email.
  • If you got a London place last year from DAC’s allocated places you should not be eligible to get one of the clubs allocated places for the next year (Fiona Gabbitus, Deborah Thompson, Lynette Temperton-Ball and Angela Dickinson)
  • You must be a first claim member at the time of entering the public ballot and be fully paid up with a UKA license, and if you are successful at the draw you must have renewed your membership with Doncaster AC and your UKA license for the year of the marathon
  • The member has to arrange payment for the place
  • You must run in a Doncaster AC vest
  • The member needs to have completed a half marathon, or race of greater distance during 2017 / 2018 before the club ballot is drawn

Rejection slips can be emailed to or given to Martin James.  Good luck all.  The draw will be carried out on a club night by Gemma Ward.

England Masters Cross Country Inter-Area Challenge – 29 September 2018

Five Doncaster AC Athletes (representing Northern Masters Athletic Club) got their Cross Country season underway running against some of the best Veteran runners in the country in this Inter-Area match at Bury St Edmunds.  The course was great, if it had been wet then we would have all had cross country spikes on but road shoes were fine.  The ladies and V65 men ran 6km and the men ran 8km.  Full results here.  If you are 35 years old or older then you should consider joining Northern Masters AC Second Claim as this opens up additional competition on the road, track, field, fell, trail and cross country.

Caroline Wheelhouse was 1st in her age group and Kevin Newman was second in his age group. Continue reading
