Doncaster Athletic Club competes in local and national Cross Country events. We have very strong junior and senior teams and regularly take over 60 athletes of all standards to the local South Yorkshire Cross Country league fixtures.
Our members compete in the National Cross Country Relays and other cross country events such as the Yorkshire Cross Country Championships. Simon Wright recently successfully competed for England in the MV45 category.

Eight of our athletes took part in this popular 30K last Sunday 15 August. Well done to all of them, some of whom had never run this distance before. Everyone had a brilliant time and will be back for more of the same next year.
Andy Davies has uploaded157 photos and I have uploaded some video clips to this page.
Thank you to the race organising committee and the volunteers who helped to make this event a great success.
John Wanjohi set a new course record in the main race and Declan Neary set a new course record in the fun run.
Peter Rowland set a new club record for the V65 category breaking 40 minutes.
Bill Rigby set a new club record for 10k at Rother Valley on 16 May 2010 for the V75 category with a time of 56.06 (I missed this at the time so I am noting it here and have updated the club records).
The Doncaster AC runners are listed below, rankings to be updated.

Rossington Gallop - 6 mile and 2 furlong trail race
Monday, 12 April 2010 18:28
Jo Parkin
A perfect spring day greeted a great turnout of runners for this little gem of a race, in a seemingly little pocket of paradise, located at the Northern Racing College (where Grand National Champions are trained) , halfway between Bessacarr & Bawtry, Ample car parking & refreshment facilities were close to the start. & the visitors centre remained open to keep families amused as the runners headed off.
The multi-obstacle course, was entirely off road & included hills & woodland, a scramble over a style, streams, & hurdles fashioned from hay bales & logs. And, since such races are so tricky to estimate in the PB stakes, this served to add a touch of quirkiness & fun.
Many thanks to the friendly marshals apart from the sadistic pair who clearly revelled directing the runners in & out of the small but surprisingly deep & very muddy stream (we all know who they are!).
A big thank you for a really well organised event from the owners of “Metres to Miles” running shop, Dave Tune & Julian Moorhouse, and to Roy Veall for the usual deft & efficient processing of results, I’m sure many of us will look forward to returning next year & will need to enter early !
Photos taken by a variety of people, more on the photos page.
Doncaster AC athletes results can be found below + 1st man / 1st lady (Doncaster won both the men's and ladies team prizes).

English School Cross Country Championships Report
Sunday, 21 March 2010 21:21
Martin James
Five DAC athletes turned out in appalling conditions to proudly represent their respective counties at the Aviva English Schools Cross Country Championships in Heaton Park, Manchester this weekend.
In the Junior Boys race, over 4,000m Aiden Davies (running for South Yorkshire) came in 195th out of a field of 332 athletes in a time of 14.07 mins.
In the Junior Girls race, over 3,000m, Megan Blackburn (also representing South Yorkshire) finished 296th out of 339 finishers in a time of 12.06 mins.
In his first year as an Intermediate Boy, Nick Beastall found the course and ever worsening weather conditions hard going, but managed to finish the 5,500m course in a time of 24.08 mins
In the Senior Boys race, Danny Orme, representing Nottinghamshire, put in a good performance over the 7,000m distance coming home in 169th place out of a field of 304 finishers in a time of 27.11 mins. In the same race Sam Booker, representing South Yorkshire, came home in 259th position in a time of 28.48 mins.
Well done to all the athletes who made it through the district, and county competitions and then on to county representation at this prestigiuos event as this is quite an acheivement in itself.

Penistone Showground Cross Country - 13/12/09
Sunday, 06 December 2009 18:07
Martin James
The folowing information was copied from the SYCAA site:
SYCAA ‘Keep on Running’ Cross Country League
Final Fixture & Championships: Sunday 13 Dec 2009
Venue
Penistone Showground, Penistone
Organising Club
Penistone Footpath Runners & AC
Location
Penistone Showground is behind the shops on the High Street, just take the road beside the Co-op (Park Avenue) and then first R and first R again.
How to get there
Please refer to the separate map and instructions. If you are coming by train, it takes 5 – 10 minutes to get from the station to the Showground.
Parking
There is parking on the edge of the Showground, off Back Lane. When this is full, it is best to park on the road, avoiding the shops end of Park Avenue, which gets very congested.
Toilets
These are in the town centre, just across from the Co-op, opposite the church. Take care crossing the road … there is a crossing with lights.
Courses
Varied underfoot conditions: mostly shortish cut grass, but there are some areas of longer grass and a track/path section which has a compacted surface with some stones in. The terrain is not flat and there are some ups and downs on all courses.
Special notes
Note the event order on the timings sheet on the website: Senior/Vet/U20/U17 Men run first at 11am, followed by Senior/Vet/U20/U17 Women. The other events follow, in the same order as usual. The reason for this is that we need time to process the results, so presentations can follow soon after the final race. Presentations will take place after the final event at St John’s Community Centre, on the left of the church, across the road.

Martin James
Well done to all the athletes that turned out in what turned out to be a 'very wet' day. I hope you have all dried out and are looking forward to the next one on the 22nd November at Cantley Park.
