“The Up and Running South Yorkshire League
Up and Running are again sponsoring the League and we are very grateful to them for their support. As usual, there are 4 league fixtures, with the final one also being the Championships. Entry for all 4 events is £6, which covers all four fixtures and numbers will be with Club Secretaries mid September. There are no new venues this year, but anyone who can tell me the last time there was a SYCAA XC League fixture at Graves Park is older than they are pretending. As I write this (28 August), I am waiting for final booking confirmation of two of the fixtures, but I can’t see that there will be any problem. The dates and venues for the League are:
Sunday 20 October Clifton Park, Rotherham (tbc)
Sunday 10 November Graves Park, Sheffield (tbc)
Sunday 24 November Campsall Country Park, nr Askern
Sunday 8 December Penistone Showground, Penistone
The SYCAA XC Championships: 8 December
The Senior races take place at the start of the programme for this event. Junior races follow, but the order MAY be different from last year and information about this will be issued in the next few weeks. (The other fixtures start with Under 11s and the senior races come at the end of the programme).
Divisions, Promotion and Relegation
NEW this year is that Clubs will be competing for separate Junior and Senior trophies based on their performance over the season and the divisions and their promotion and relegation issues will only relate to senior/vet runners. The Juniors will have just the one division. (see under the ‘Divisions’ tab).
Northern XC Relays (incorporating the SYCAA Relay Champs) 5 October
The staging of the Northern Relay Championships is again taking place at Graves Park and will incorporate the SYCAA championships. Medals will be awarded to the first 3 South Yorkshire club teams in every age group, and the U11 events are open ONLY to South Yorkshire clubs. All entries via the Northern Athletics website. Information and entry forms should be available on the NoE website by the end of August. Please do you best to support this event – it is a great way to get club members into cross country.”
