South Yorkshire Road League Information

The following is taken from the SYCAA  website:

The dates and venues for 2013 are listed below

Wednesday, 10th April at  Waggon and Horses, Oxspring, Penistone

Wednesday, 17th April  at Three Merry Lads, Lodge Moor, Sheffield  (new venue)

Wednesday, 24th April  at Low Bradfield, Sheffield

Wednesday, 8th May  at Pickburn Arms, Brodsworth

All races start at 19.00 hrs. Last time for entries is 18.50 hrs.

Road Secretary Keith Binney asks that all clubs supply a contact with their email address if this has changed since last season. It would help if clubs could give an approximate number of runners.  Payment must be made for all numbers issued and names submitted (still £6 per number) at the end of the season. Results will be sent to club contacts and placed on the SYCAA website and John Schofield’s results site as soon as possible after each event.

Numbers must be pinned to the vest. Do not use triathlon waist bands as these make it difficult for the recorders to read the number as you finish.

Club vests must be worn otherwise you will not count towards your team’s result.

Important Safety Notice  – No ear phones at all.  You are on public roads. You must be able to hear Marshals instructions and approaching traffic. Failure to observe this rule will result in disqualification and removal from the results

Venue details

Race 1 10th April  Oxspring, Penistone   Start 19.00 hours

Toilets in the pub …feel free to to stay for a drink afterwards. Parking is on the football field as in the past. DO NOT park on the course or on the road at the finish or in the pub car park.  The start is on the road above the Trans Pennine Trail about a ten minute walk from the finish. The finish is on the road in an estate near the football pitch. Please do not stay near the finish, go into the field to meet other runners. Last year we caused a problem for local people and we do not want to annoy them again. The course is a bit hilly but the last mile or so is downhill. Keith will be in the pub car park up to 18.50 for late names and entries

Race 2 17th April     Lodge Moor, Sheffield   Start 19.00 hours

This is a new venue and course. From Sheffield take the A57 (Glossop) which goes past Sheffield University and Weston Park Hospital. Continue on the A57 to the Crosspool area and turn left into Sandygate Road just past a petrol station. It is sign posted Hallam F.C. Carry on for two miles and park on the road side beyond the bus turning circle as far as the Sportsman pub on the left. There is parking in the car park for the playing fields just past the Sportsman but we may use this for the finish. If you park there you will not be able to get out until the last runner has finished. The start is at the Three Merry Lads a little further up the road. Do not block gates or driveways. The car park at the Three Merry lads can be used if you are staying for a drink of food. Toilets are in the pub. Please respect other pub users. The course is rather hilly and rural so definitely NO earphones.

Parking is at the cricket club and on the hill going out of the village. Do not park on the narrow road down to the village as this is part of the course. The cricket club bar will be open and additional names will be taken there upto 18.50
