Doncaster Town Centre Road Races – 13 July 2016

121 Doncaster AC runners competed across the three races and the club is proud of each and every one of you!

This event takes a massive amount of planning and organising, we are all volunteers who feel passionate about the club and the event.  On the night we had an army of volunteers from our club, other clubs and friends of the club (many thanks).  All the money we have left after the costs, such as organising the road closures, chip timing and t-shirts goes back to the club to support grass roots athletics in Doncaster.  This includes supporting our junior members of which we have hundreds (25 of them ran the fun run!) and supporting beginner runners (over 100 this year so far) and paying for track maintenance.

Laxton 10k

If this race had not clashed with our 5k, we would have had a large turnout.  Well done to Lee Spink finishing in 14th place with a time of 38:19.

Normanby Duathlon – 15/07/2016

The winning time was 59:00.173.

The provisional results don’t give the split times between the run, bike and run.  They also don’t give the club name so if I miss anyone please let me know.

Frome Half Marathon

286 runners finished this tough race.  Caroline said  “Great run at Frome Half today, 2nd Female and 3rd in ‘Queen of the Hill’! Hot, humid, hard and hilly but a wonderful course in beautiful countryside. Do it if ever you get the chance!”

As a club we are very proud of our amazing Vet Runners, keep up the great work all.

Parkruns – 17/07/2016

PB’s for Mark WEBSTER, Nick NEWMAN, Andrea ROBINSON, George LAING and Carrie WATSON.

First timers at various parkruns were Laura HERBERT, Nicola JOEL, Nicola JOEL, Amanda MCCONWAY, Angela LAMBERT, Bryony DEIGHTON.

At Doncaster first DAC runner to finish was Martin JAMES (2nd overall) and first lady was our very own Nicola DEVINE who was competing in her 3rd race in a week.  George LAING‘s PB was very impressive considering he race a duathlon only 12 hours earlier.  Perhaps he was still on the bike.

We have a couple of milestones coming up soon for our runners, Paul BROWN is close to 100 and Peter BADGER is close to 50.
