As you may be aware, the South Yorkshire Road League is not going ahead this year. This is a great shame and hopefully the league will survive and be back in 2020.

This means awards for 2020 awards night will be based on our club championships, you can find the details here.  Don’t miss out by leaving it too late to enter races!

Stamford 30k – 17 February 2019

Always a favorite for a tough test if you are doing a Spring Marathon, the Stamford 30k is always a sell out and we usually have a few runners taking part. The course is mainly rural, hilly, exposed and run on open roads. It is usually freezing cold but this year it was unusually warm, and a fairly strong headwind in the second half. We had 4 runners take part this year and I know Sharon will be grateful to Sally Wheelhouse for guiding her on the race.

Caroline Wheelhouse ran a brilliant race, the current course record (FV60) was set by Yuko Gordon in 2015 with a time of 2:27:39. Caroline last ran the race in 2013 when she took the FV55 course record with a time of 2:18:14. Caroline went one better in the 2019 race, running a course PB of 2:16:53 and as such setting a new course record by 10:46.

Winter Railway Ultra – 16 February 2019

Well done to Jennifer Muscroft who completed the 19 mile event and Becky HB who completed the 38 mile event!

Charles Darwin Challenge – 9 February 2019

As part of her quest to collect more race medals than me this year, Becky HB completed this half marathon event in 2:19:34. This race was run on a cycle track and the half marathon was something like 21 laps, so a very mentally tough event!

Wombwell 5 – 19 February 2019

Well done Julie Cull who finished in 41:59. Unfortunately the race was reported to be short but these things happen.
