The 401 Challenge and Dearne Dash
Two social / charity / fun events this weekend where our members supported. First off was Ben Smith hitting Doncaster with his 250th marathon on 250 consecutive days (he is going all the way to 401). Hosted by our friends at Danum Harriers around 11 DAC runners took part running various distances to support Ben, the amazing partially sighted runner Sharon Maughan ran the full distance of 26.2 miles only 13 days after the London Marathon. Dawn Hollingsworth ran her first half marathon and Claire Beegan her first 10 miles.
The Dearne Dash was a charity run organised by Carl Ryde, to support the Sheffield Childrens Hospital. Carl Wrote “THANK YOU everyone who took part in the Dearne Dash today. Must also thank the people who helped make this happen. We have raised £651 for Sheffield Childrens Hospital. A big thanks to Grab ‘n’ Go drinks who supplied you all with water and juices, Michelle for baking delicious buns, marshals (my family including my 2 daughters) and Pastures for letting us use their venue for registration. I will ask Sheffield Hospital to let Tilly choose something for the ward with the money you have all donated. Hope you had a lovely run. I did and it was an absolute pleasure to see so many people going round with smiles on their faces and having fun whilst supporting a very special charity. Next year is a definite. Thanks again…and well done!!!”
