Yorkshire Track and Field Championships 2014

Email from Fiona Lancaster – Championship Secretary

YORKSHIRE COUNTY ATHLETICS ASSOCIATION

Entry forms and information

Hi everyone,

There is a lot of important information included in this email, I’d be really grateful if you would read to the bottom and circulate it to everyone who may be interested.

Yorkshire Track and Field Championships 2014

The closing date is Friday 2nd May 2014. There is still plenty of time to post an entry.

I will be working at the West Yorkshire League match in Cleckheaton on Saturday 26th April all day, if you wish to hand me your entry I’ll be working in the announcer’s box.

I will be doing the results at the Northern League Match at Cudworth on Sunday 4th May, although this is after the closing date I will accept hand delivered entries here should anyone need to.

If anyone decides to hand deliver their entries to my home address, then that’s fine but please don’t knock, just pop the entry in the letter box to the left of the front door. You may think you’re the only one to deliver to my house but it can sometimes get very busy and I have a pile of work to do, plus teenagers revising for A levels.

Please do not post entries either by special delivery or by registered post. I live a considerable distance away from the main sorting office and I can’t guarantee collection of such mail if I’m not in. The ordinary mail always finds me.

I will be posting an entry list online on the Northern Athletics website as soon as it is complete and I can sort any problems out regarding entry as soon as that appears.

Seniors please noteSenior County Champions will be given free entry into the corresponding event for the 2014 Northern Athletics Track & Field Championships (14th /15th June), subject to the receipt of a correctly completed entry form

The U13 athletes will now have events available on both days of the championships. Please take particular note if you intend to compete in the 800m, you will be competing in the heats on the Saturday and if successful, the final will be on the Sunday. This is in line with current UKA rules for competition.

I’m afraid there is no entry for U11 athletes into this Championships, I have pasted the rule from the prospectus regarding the age limit for our youngest competitors it is clear and the dates are specific.

U13 Boys & Girls                Competitors who have reached their 11th birthday but not their 13th birthday

by midnight 31st August 2014

Spectators – There will be a charge of £5 per person for an individual day of competition, however if you intend being there both days, you will have the opportunity to pay £8 for the weekend. There are concessions available and they will be displayed on the gate. The fees represent excellent value for money for two long days of high quality sport.

It is the only championship that we charge an entrance fee for spectators. I would ask that you remain polite with the volunteers who collect the fee on the gate. We aim to provide competition for all disciplines and for all abilities throughout the year and we are passionate about providing a progression pathway for athletes via the Yorkshire Team. The costs of competition continue to rise and are considerable over the course of the year. Without the dedication of the hundreds of volunteers who officiate at all of the events the costs would be even greater.
