Why you belong in the South Yorkshire Cross country league this season! πŸƒ πŸƒ πŸƒ

Think cross country is for superhuman athletes? Think again. The South Yorkshire Cross country league is about one thing: Community.

Every single runner who crosses the finish line scores valuable points for DAC in the overall club rankings after the final fixture. This means that the person at the back is just as important as the person quickest for the club. Whether you are aiming for a specific position or your main goal is simply conquering the course, your club needs you.

If you have been hesitating because you think it’s too challenging, here is why you should lace up your running spikes or fell shoes to give it a go this season.

🌟 Junior stars: U10’s, U12’s, U14’s, U16s

Parents, this is for you! Don’t let the word “cross country” scare you! For our younger athletes, these races are not exhausting, endless slogs. They are fast, exciting, and incredibly fun.

The distance: U10’s 1500m, U12’s 2000m, U14’s F 3000m M 4000m, U16s F 4000m M 5000m

πŸƒ The oldies: U 18’s and Seniors +

Whilst stepping onto the cross country start line can feel intimidating, it is some of the best endurance training you can do to get fit for other upcoming races. It builds unmatched leg strength, mental toughness, and core stability without the hard impact of road running.

Cross country is about grit and team spirit. You run at your pace. The league features Veteran categories all the way up to 70+. You are never “too old” or “too slow.” Your race directly helps DAC climb the overall club rankings table after the final fixture.
