Extraordinary meeting at Hatfields Public House – Wednesday 17th July 2024
The club is rapidly preparing to go into its busiest period, with school sports days & weekend teack meetings. These events combind generate 40% of our revenue, with a further 11% of our shop sales. They form an important part of our business model, but as always, they take up much of my time. Opening at 8am, setting up equipment, supporting the event and packing away at the end, mid to late afternoon. The implication for me, is that I have to be available from mid May to early August, which prevents me organising any summer holidays. This has been the case for the past few years, but from next year this will have to change.
At a Directors Meeting, we discussed the option of appointing a Caretaker, which may prove difficult to find. The agreed option was to ask for a group of volunteers to share the hosting of customers through the summer, taking the obligation away from me. Once agreed, the booked dates will be circulated for allocation.
The Directors have therefore organised an extraordinary meeting at Hatfields Public House for Wednesday 17th July 7.30pm, to discuss this proposal and hopefully identify people who can take part in this new arrangement. I am already receiving bookings for next year and at present, there is no one available to meet them. If we can not meet this change and lose this revenue, the club will not be able to meet its obligation regards the lease, which as a further 12 years to run. The implications of that are obvious!!!
On a lighter not, I ask you to make a date in your duaries for Friday 29th November at 7pm. This is for the Club Celebration Night, to be held at the ECO Power Stadium, with a waiter service meal.
