U20M Bertie, who is coached by Barry Barnes, will be competing for the CaptureGreat Britain select team against senior teams from England, Scotland, Wales, British Universities and the hosts Loughborough, in what is traditionally the curtain raiser to the outdoor season.

Bertie has been competing for Doncaster AC since he was an Under 13 in 2007, initially in Cross County races and over 800m & 1500m on the track. When he was old enough to try the steeplechase, he found he had a natural flare for this event and went from strength to strength, culminated in an English Schools Silver medal last year, and a BUCS Silver this year.

Bertie has also carried on with his cross country running and is a talented Fell Runner as well, having represented England in this discipline.

If anyone wants to see a great day of athletics, go along and wave the Doncaster AC flag for Bertie at Loughborough on Sunday. The event starts at 11.30am with a provisional timetable also available on the link above.

Good luck Bertie – hopefully the first of many appearances for your country.
