Hi All,
As will no doubt be aware, SYCAA have not been able to organise and hold any outdoor T&F league meetings since the pandemic year, due to a lack of available qualified officials. In an attempt to rectify that shortfall, SYCAA (working with Northern Athletics official’s project group) have organised two level 1 courses for the 21st of January in Sheffield.
The field course will run from 09:00 – 13:00 and will take place in The Glacier suite, at Ice Sheffield (adjacent to EIS Sheffield) and the track course will take place in the athletics track at EIS Sheffield from 09:00 to 12:00. All course attendees will then be able to get some practical experience at the 3rd SYCAA Indoor series fixture, which starts at 12:00 at EIS.
We are hopeful that the SY T&F clubs will identify some delegates to attend the courses, and that this will mean that the clubs can then supply officials for their own T&F fixtures / league commitments and that SYCAA will be able to organise some outdoor league fixtures.

To incentivise clubs and individuals to enrol on the courses, all who attend and successfully register as Levei 1 officials, following the course and completing the required will be refunded the course fees.
Please can you make your club committees and members aware of the courses and the initiative, and let’s hope that this will enable the clubs and SYCAA to deliver an outdoor league this coming summer.
