Northern Counties u17 championships – Doncaster juniors bring home the medals
Nicole Lannie competed at the U17 Northern Area championships at Middlesbrough last weekend and was in great form, winning the u13 girls long jump with a leap of 4.73m and in the shot produced a new personal best and club record throw of 9.26m. With no 70m hurdles or high jump events for the u13 girls, Nicole moved up an age group to run in the u15 girls 75m hurdles and finished in a creditable 3rd place in the heats and recorded a personal best in the event.
Also at the same meeting new Doncaster AC junior member Sam Hanley competed in his first major competition in the under 13 boys 100m. Sam had a comfortable win in his heat with a time of 12.90s. In the final he had a false start and was given a yellow card and when the race was restarted, Sam was slow off the start line, but came back strong in the latter parts of the race and was just beaten to the finish line by only a tenth of a second, winning the silver medal for his efforts with a new club record time of 12.78s.
