Results update 11 April 2016 – Manchester Marathon, Sheffield Half Marathon and parkruns
On Wednesday 27 April 2016 Doncaster AC hosts a 5 mile road race starting at 7pm. This is around the Brodsworth area and we will be asking for people to volunteer their time to help us marshal the event (South Yorkshire Road League). Thank you for considering this request, without volunteers we can not put on races.
Manchester Marathon – 10 April 2016
A fantastic set of results from our athletes. David Watts was targeting 3:15:00 and despite a fall at 20 miles and a toilet stop he beat this going under 3:14! Run Leader Marie-Louise wanted to beet her Hull Marathon time, she smashed it to pieces with an 18 minute PB going well under 3:45! Martin has a casual approach to some races, he ran to enjoy this one no pressure (He also did a 5k run when he got home). Martyn Walter ran his first marathon, he has had all sorts of niggles and was not confident of being able to do the marathon, he had a storming run smiling all the way!
Martyn said “Well, I wasn’t convinced I would get to say this but I’ve completed the Manchester marathon! Incredible support, especially from Christine,Rebecca Louise Hodby, Sam Edward, Karen Sinden, Martin James, Janet Hampson and the inimitable Crazy Crew, Phil Peter and Marie-Louise Taylor. Their cheering and encouragement kept me going to the end. All the good luck messages from the fantastic DAC team also helped enormously, not forgetting all my other friends and family. Incredible day, thanks everybody for believing I could actually do it! ”
Dave has got a lot more to come, he wrote “Considering yesterday’s efforts feel surprisingly ok given that after the GNR I couldn’t walk properly for 3 days!!”

Sheffield Half Marathon – 10 April 2016
This is the new course and its one long hill of the up variety for the first half. Lots of first time half marathon runners, well done (you will not find many as tough as that one) and some PB’s as well. Fantastic running all, which half is next?
Susan said “Toughest race so far! Non stop running -6 miles all uphill, 5 miles stunning scenery, 2 miles town centre crowds more jelly beans than I’ve ever seen at my first Half ”
