Results update 16 August 2017 – Askern 10 Mile, Northern Masters 10k, Newark Half and Parkruns

The Road Rankings are being updated by Darren Wood and Sharon Maughan (thanks to both of them).

Message from DAC Ultra Captain Martin Hookway “Right you lovely lot, on Saturday 6am I start my adventure across GB, UGB200 will be biggest challenge to date it is a race from Southport on the West Coast to Hornsea on the East, I will be racing these 200 miles on foot and you can track me by clicking on the link below. I am running to raise awareness for Trust22.org.

I will not be the only local lad doing this race, Doncaster Tri member and good friend Mick Clark will be lining up for his 2nd attempt at this iconic race, fellow friend speed demon and DAC Senior Men’s Team Captain Martin James will be trying his hand at 200 miles and last but not least another crazy friend, The Machine that is Neil Wood, will be on the start line to extend his list of this year’s epic endurance events. All the best lads, and I’ll see you at the weekend.

Northern Masters 10k – 13 August 2017

Well done once again to Caroline Wheelhouse – “3rd Female and 1st F55 at the Northern Masters 10k 41.56. Bit slower than I’d hoped, but if anyone tells you Blackpool prom is flat – don’t believe them!”

Askern 10 Mile – 13 August 2017

Brilliant performances everyone, Really pleased to see the progress Lee Milburn has made and others.  Simon Wright is ranked 3rd in the UK for 10 miles.  Several prizes including the male team prize for Lee, Simon and Mick.  Sharon was guided by Marie-Louise Taylor.

Newwark Half Marathon – 13 August 2017

A great effort and report from Dave Waugh, if anyone wants to write reports just send them to me please – “Newark Half today, and after all the rain over recent days it was a surprise to have bright blue sky’s. Being born in Newark, This was my home half. In its second year now, the course is a reasonably flat loop around the south of Newark with only some gentle undulations in the first 7k. I was hoping for a pb and maybe dip 1:40 but it became clear that too much gym and not enough endurance, along with the heat would put pay to that. At least the first 10 miles went reasonably well in just over 1hr 17 but then the cramp hit and hit hard, and I had a really challenging final 3 miles and limped in at 1:48:11 . More experience gained and onwards to the next race, but I certainly need a lot more hours in the legs than I have been able to do over the past few months”

Parkruns – 12 August 2017

Highest age grade at Rother Valley was Kevin NEWMAN.  A win for Rhys GIBSON at Doncaster.  Nicola DEVINE is approaching the amazing milestone of 100.  Niall HORSTEAD is approaching 50.
