The Pain Barrier
Janet Hampson and Rose James took on the Pain Barrier at Frickley, Doncaster yesterday.
This was 10k of extreme mud, near vertical hills, lakes, water filled culverts and more mud. The venue is a 4 x 4 track on a former colliery tip.
For some this would have been 10k of cross country nightmare but for Rose and Janet they loved it. To them it was like going to a spa and having a mud treatment, Rose commented how soft her skin felt after the race.
Janet was delighted to finish second for DAC.
The hills were a constant feature with some being so steep and slippery you had to climb them holding onto a rope.
Janet said “it was a very well organised, value for money event, great medals and goody bags, every aspect was professional which made it a highly enjoyable day. ( great feeling coming over the finish, knowing you conquered it ) .”
The next Pain Barrier event is on 2 November at Parkwood, Bradford. These events are great fun and we hope it returns to Doncaster next year.
340 runners finished the race, full results here.
