Cross Country Event for Under 11s in Wakefield – in conjunction with the INAS European Cross Country Championships
The INAS European Cross Country Championships will be held in Thornes Park, Wakefield on 21st and 22nd February 2015. INAS is the world governing body for sports participants with learning difficulties.
There will be two championship races on each day, but we are hoping to make use of the course by providing an event for local runners. On the Saturday, we are holding a community run on the course for anyone aged over 11, and on the Sunday, we are putting on a cross country event for under 11s.
The under 11s event will start at 10-45. There is no entry fee and absolutely anyone under the age of 11 is welcome to come along and run. All changing and other facilities at the Thornes Park Athletics Stadium will be available for participants (the start is 150 metres away). The course will be approximately 2k. It will be a very good introduction for under 11s, perhaps leading the older ones into taking part in under 13 races next season. Although there will be no prizes, all under 11 runners will receive a commemorative medal. The entire event is covered by a UKA Cross Country Permit (Number 2015036).
We should be very grateful if you would help us by publicising the event in your club and, perhaps bring a “team” of under 11 runners. Although there is no pre-entry, it would help in our planning if you could, please, indicate by email if any of your under 11 are intending to come along.
Kind Regards
Ron Needham
