We are e mailing you as the main contact that we have for your cl
ub, in connection with the club conferences that are being held for the Yorkshire and Humberside Region on the evenings (7.00pm to 9.00pm) on Monday, 24th March at the Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster and Monday, 31st March at the Holiday Inn, Harrogate. We are very keen that as many Yorkshire and Humberside – based clubs as possible are able to send representatives, and have chosen the locations in order to make it as simple as possible for all clubs to get there.
You may well have seen from the England Athletics website at http://www.englandathletics.org/2014-consultation-announcement an article, setting out the background to the programme of club conferences that is being held nationally. As that article explains, this is part of a commitment made by England Athletics to consult regularly with its members regarding plans and priorities. You will see that the issues to be explored across all England Regions are:
- Affiliation and membership
- Spending priorities for EA
- The England Athletics Online Portal for Membership Secretaries
In addition to the national issues that we will be discussing, representatives of Northern Athletics will be present at the events to discuss the results of their recent survey about the funding of competition on the North. Both England Athletics and Northern Athletics are keen to hear the views of clubs regarding this issue. We also hope to discuss issues around youth development and how clubs in Yorkshire and Humberside have engaged with the increased numbers of participants in recreational running and the ways in which clubs can benefit in from this.
While there will continue to be a nationally co-ordinated communication to clubs, we are keen to get an early local message out to Yorkshire and Humberside clubs that we want to hear your views and to have the opportunity to discuss the agenda within your own committee and membership.
We hope very much to see you or a club colleague on 24th or 31st March: as you will see from the EA website, we ask that if you plan to attend you register by email at clubconference14@englandathletics.org with your name, club and your role within the club. Club conferences are open to absolutely everybody, no matter what role you occupy within your club, so athletes, volunteers, officials, coaches and committee members are all welcome. More detailed joining instructions will be sent to those who have registered. If you are not the correct person for us to be contacting for your club, we apologise and ask that you please forward this e mail as appropriate and let us know where communications of this sort should be directed in future.
