Congratulations to Joanna Howe who braved the gale force wind to tackle this half marathon, she finished in 2:01:44 in 309th place.  458 athletes completed the race.  Jo was slightly disappointed not to get under 2 hours but the conditions were against her.

Doncaster Parkrun – 22/02/14

6 DAC athletes competed in the Doncaster Parkrun, I am delighted to see that George Phillips won the race, I suspect he is the youngest runner to win at Doncaster?  Between the six DAC athletes that competed on the 22nd they have run the Doncaster Parkrun 78 times!  The course is drying out now so it is becoming more runnable, I hope this trend continues…

National Cross Country Championships – 22/02/14

Before I write about the National I would like to send my gratitude to all 33 DAC athletes who entered the Yorkshire, Northern and National Cross County Championships and National Cross Country Relays, this is the most athletes that DAC have ever fielded at these events, we competed with the best athletes from across the country in some great races at some lovely venues.  But we can do better, next cross country season we should be looking to take enough athletes to enter complete teams in these fantastic events which are open to ALL abilities.

Some of the entrants that were entered yesterday were unfortunately injured or just coming back and we wish all of you a speedy recovery!

As with the rest of the Cross Country events this season the weather was great and after all the rain we have had the course was quite runnable with only a couple of boggy areas.  All the athletes that competed are a credit to DAC and special thanks to the parents that came and supported their children.  A total of 127 clubs competed and 4686 athletes completed the 10 races.

Amil Abiad was the first DAC athlete to compete, he ran in the U15 boys race and finished in 254 place with a time of 17:20.  346 athletes finished and the winning time was 15:43.
