Tokyo Marathon – 3 March 2019

Massive well done to James Osborne running another PB at the marathon distance.

“Well what can I say: Tokyo you have been good to me. Not ideal start to the day with rain and the cold at the start and a very slow first 5km. But managed to pick up time through the race with my running buddy Jon Low.
Managed a pb and improve my BQ time to 2:54:26 – absolutely delighted.
That’s now 3⭐️s in the bag”.

Norton 9 – 3 March 2019

14 DAC Members braved the slightly cooler than recent conditions at Norton on Sunday morning. The field of 516 runners saw clubs represented from near and far , Holmfirth, Barnsley Sheffield and Keswick AC to name a few. The rain threatened all morning but thankfully held off until the race had finished . 1st place went to Gareth Cooke ( Penistone Footpath Runners AC ) with a time of 49.27 secs. A very well organised local race with plenty of friendly marshals, 2 very welcomed water stops on route and a nice t-shirt for all finishers. Thanks again Askern AC – great event. Danny Powell.

Oulton Park 20 – 3 March 2019

The ‘Running Grand Prix’ series of races take part at motorsport venues across the country and like the ‘Grim up North’ events, they offer a choice of distances which at this venue comprised 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, 20 miles and Marathon.

We opted for the 20 mile race which started with a 1.8m out and back section before completing 7nr 2.6 mile laps of the Oulton Park race circuit there were 91 runners.

This was the longest race that Adam has taken part in and I’m now trying to convince him to find a place in the East Hull 20 on March 17th. Adam finished in 14th place with a time of 2:31:55

For me, this was a much needed long run at my target marathon pace which I’m pleased to say I managed despite a bad month or so. I finished in 35th with a time of 2:45:04. Mark Webster.

Newport Half Marathon – 4 March 2019

Well done to Barry (2:29:16) and Sam Prowse (2:28:29) . “My least prepared run ever…my number never arrived…we left Barry’s number in Doncaster so had to get another one…its been manic. However I managed my 3rd fastest time over the distance and ran the whole thing…no stopping at the water stations and no walking up the hills (those that know me know I don’t do hills) and there were plenty. I felt comfortable and despite the ran enjoyed this run”. Sam Prowse.

At Doncaster the 1st 5 to finish were all DAC. Fist female to finish was Jess ROWLAND.

One of our new beginners, Lynn Olsen wrote “I’ve just ran my first ever park run at Sandall Park. I even got a personal best (never had one of them before…. Haha!) However I must admit I was nervous but as soon as I met team c there I relaxed a little more….and soon we were off.. I did remember them saying 3 times round the field then the lake and your finished! That was a big field. As I’m thinking we’ve got to run round the field again we looped the lake again..thats a bit extra. However with my pacer buddies at my side.-Sue and Dee they kept me going, reassuring me I was doing well. The second lap was hard but apparently I was still chatting so I plodded on. 46 minutes later in hot sunshine I completed my first ever run and it felt great. I ran with no walking. The other week I struggled to even run for 5 mins without my calfs or shins hurting. But I did it!!! I ran 5k x “
