DONCASTER STARS SHINE AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Three young athletes from Doncaster Athletics Club did the town proud at the 2014 National Junior Athletics Championships at Warwick University on 12-13 July. The competition, held in sweltering conditions, was organised by the English Federation of Disability Sport and attracted more than 250 athletes from England and Ireland.

Sprinter Ben Heflin won two gold medals and a silver in the T36 under 18s 100m, 200m and 400m races. Specialist thrower William Baxter won silver in the shot put and gold medals in javelin and discus in the F36 under 20 category. Golden girl Leaha Dixon topped the podium three times in the under 16 T35 100m, 200m and 400m.
