Cross Country Championships

British and Irish Masters International Cross Country – 18 November 2017

We are all very proud of our brilliant vet runners and three of them were selected to run for England at the weekend.  Its not the first time Simon Wright, Kev Newman and Mick Page have been selected for this event, amongst others from Doncaster AC over the years, be inspired, I know I am!

Simon Wright finished 3rd overall with a time of 28:46, the 3rd V50 man (only 18 seconds off 1st).  Simon was part of the winning team for his age group.

Kev Newman finished 42nd overall with a time of 31:26, 5th vet 60.  Mick Page finished 68th overall (having been suffering from a cold), 20th Vet 60.  Kev and Mick took bronze for the team.

Escape from Meriden – 18 November 2017

Rebecca Henry-Brown and Martin Hookway took part in this ultimate ultra adventure – as I understand it the winner is the one who travels furthest in 24 hours from the start (as the crow flies) – they got 49.21km (which was 52 miles).  They were supported my Marie-Louise Taylor.Rebecca wrote “Thank you to everyone that posted messages of support for my Escape at the weekend it meant a great deal. Special thanks to my mentor Martin Hookway you were a rock & always provide inspiration and motivation.
Mazza for being an awesome roadie & Crew. The witty text & timely pop up pit stops were great.
I’ve been a member of DAC for just over a year. Whilst I’ve always done occasional races the club have given me the the drive to do more. Not many clubs are lucky enough to have the wealth of talent & experience to draw upon. I’m proud to be a member.
My mantra is if it doesn’t break you it makes you stronger.
Just keep breathing in and grab life with both hands!

10 Mile Lancashire Championship at Preston

Bill Topping was pleased to finish this race in 1:25:58 after not running any distance training for some time.

Dirt Half Challenge – 18 November 2017

Lynette ran a fine race at the Leighton Buzzard Trail Half, very cold and muddy off road running with a great medal at the end.  Lynette finished with a time of 2:38:46.
