North Eastern Counties Pentathlon Championships
The star of the show at the North Eastern Counties Pentathlon Indoor Championships was Doncaster AC junior athlete Nicole Lannie. Nicole broke the existing championship record by over 150 points to win the gold medal position with a final score of 2885 points and was also awarded the best female performance on the day. Nicole’s record breaking score started with a convincing win in the hurdles with a time of 9.93s just three hundredths off her best time to take the lead after the first round, next the long jump, in her first round, Nicole leaped to 4.63m and amassed a lead of over 250 points. The shot produced a lifetime best throw of 8.40m and a top five UK ranking for the event and increasing her lead by a further 100 points. The high jump produced yet another pb of 1.46m and nearly cleared 1.49m and added another 120 more points than her competitors, the final event was the 60m and once again produced a great winning time of 8.62s just outside her best time to win the open championship with a record breaking score to top the UK rankings and another club record.
